1961 Studebaker Hawk

Sherwood Egbert wanted the design of the 1962 models to be updated sooner than later. There would be no waiting two or three years for the design of a new model. Meanwhile, the 1961 Hawk was released with a new stripe along the tail fins. Again, as in 1960, there would only be one Hawk model this year named simply the Hawk. It had also updated the interior with new bucket seats and used the Warner Gear four-speed transmission.

This would be Studebaker's last year for the tail fins which were used by several auto builders in their car designs. Studebaker had planned for over 6000 Hawk sales but only 3929 were actually built.
