The year 1951 would be the last of two years where Studebaker featured its bulletnose grill. At this time, bumper guards, trim levels, and automatic transmissions were
optional on the Studebaker Champion line of cars. The wheelbase was increased 113 to 115 inches.
The fact that the car no
longer had the bulging fenders left the car with a smooth sleek side design which became the norm for most car designs from that time. Without the
former styled fenders, Studebaker advocated the car shed poundage making for a more economical vehicle.
The car still had the same 85 HP engine and self-adjusting brakes although Studebaker brought in a new V8 engine for its Commander line.
